How is KIND #DoingMyPartCO
KIND is closely monitoring ADA and CDC guidance for dental practices. As always, we hope to remain a resource and source of support for our patients and our community. Our clinic phone line (720.619.5333) remains open and we are currently seeing patients at our Dahlia, Commerce City, and MDDS locations. Whether you have concerns about your ongoing care or questions about a dental emergency, Dr. Maes and the KIND team are here for you!
ACTS OF KINDness
We are adapting and preparing to serve the increased need for KIND’s services we are projecting in the aftermath of COVID, in the following ways:
- Intensifying our focus on the integration of dental services into primary and mental healthcare delivery
- Ramping up our efforts to provide teledentistry for low-access communities and to comply with social distancing
We are continuing to focus on systems-level advocacy through partnerships with local and national stakeholders, such as:
- The American Dental Association’s Community Dental Health Coordinator (CDHC) certification: Prevention and Care Navigation-focused training for oral health professionals to improve oral health outcomes among those at the greatest risk for untreated disease.
- The University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine’s Advanced Clinical Training and Service Program (ACTS): A service based learning program exposing young dentists to public dentistry, simultaneously providing dental services to nonprofits with limited resources.
Critical Support
In 2019, KIND finalized a three-year strategic plan to efficiently focus resources to create the greatest community impact. In light of COVID-19, we are implementing new evaluation infrastructure to increase our metrics focus on long-term impact, in alignments with our missional goals.
KIND’s diverse funding approach and stewardship practices have sustained our organization for more than 100 years. Today, that means the flexibility to conservatively continue our operations, and actively prepare and adapt for an uncertain future, in which one thing is certain: there will be an increased need for KIND’s services in the wake of this pandemic.
We are calling on our supporters and partners to help. Now, more than ever, the most impactful way to support our efforts is with financial contributions. Investing in KIND’s infrastructure now will provide the critically needed funding to meet increased need in the months that lie ahead.
We must not trade one health crisis for another. While almost 100% preventable, unchecked oral disease has escalating, compounding, and costly impacts upon nutrition, educational attainment, chronic health issues, and mental health.
