Volunteer Spotlight

Dr Mark Bentele has been a volunteer dentist for the KIND clinic in Colorado Springs for almost 2 years. He has a private Orthodontic practice in the Colorado Springs area and also, a satellite office in Aurora, but still finds the time to volunteer in our clinic quarterly. He helps to aid in screening patients for treatment and has offered to donate orthodontic services to one of our more severely in need patients. A native of Missouri, and father of three, he enjoys water and snow skiing, fishing, hunting and hiking in the Colorado mountains. Dr Bentele, with his easy going personality combined with his professional expertise, offers our KIND patients a truly enjoyable and confident dental experience.

Colorado’s Children Need Your Help

Through our network of volunteer dental professionals, KIND serves thousands of Colorado children in need every year. We’re always looking for new volunteers from throughout the state to help us provide even more children with high-quality, affordable dental care. KIND volunteers are:

  • Dentists
  • Dental assistants
  • Dental hygienists
  • Pedodontists
  • Orthodontists
  • Endodontists
  • Oral surgeons
  • Other dental professionals
  • Translators

Our volunteers offer a high-quality standard of care consistent with American Dental Association guidelines, and a comprehensive range of services to meet each client’s individual needs.

What Will I Do As A Volunteer?

There are numerous ways to volunteer your time, such as:

  • Donate a day or half day at one of our Denver or Colorado Springs facilities or on the Miles for Smiles mobile dental unit. You can volunteer by yourself or with your entire dental team. Volunteering as a group offers a unique team-building experience that is beneficial for both the children and volunteers.
  • Treat a child in our special referral program. Some of our children need specialty care such as pedodontics, orthodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery. Share your specialty skills with our children in your office.
  • “Adopt” a child or family in our Adopt-a-Smile program. Provide long-term comprehensive care to an eligible child in your practice.
  • Become a preceptor volunteer by sponsoring and supervising a dental student who treats KIND-referred children at your office. The Preceptor Volunteer Program is offered through ACTS at the University of Colorado Dental School.
  • Become a non-clinical volunteer by helping with our special events, serving on a committee or the board of trustees, or assisting patients who need a translator.
  • Be a Chopper Topper volunteer by donating a full or half-day of your time in an area elementary school to screen and provide dental sealants to students. We also need non-dental volunteers to supervise children and assist dental professionals with record keeping, trafficking, and scheduling.
